Make My Heart Melt!

Women (and men)… are complicated. Yes, I’ll admit it. We are never straight forward, we like to play mental mind games with our significant other and we always assume he/she should have known what we wanted the most — especially on Valentine’s Day. My advice, never show up empty handed. It will show that you either forgot it’s one day of the year to express your love (and have everyone be jealous of how perfect you are together!) or you were too busy to take 5 minutes out of your day to think of him/her.

You can’t go wrong with flowers, a teddy, and some chocolate!

Want to tug on some heart strings? Write a handwritten love letter expressing your love. In the digital age with texts, emails, and instant communication via BBM, iChat, Skype and so forth, it’s hard to sit down for a good 10-20 minutes with pen and paper and just write… need inspiration? Listen to some music that will express how you feel and write down some lyrics. Don’t have the greatest penmenship? Type the letter up in a Word Doc and use a scripted font. (At least sign the bottom of the letter!)

For the fashion forward lady in your life, a pair of Louboutin’s will have all the ladies talking. Make sure you get a gift receipt… just in case the shoe size is wrong.

Love padlocks have been around for quite some time and couples who are in the city of love & lights (Paris, France) place a padlock with their names written on it and afix it to a fence on the Paris bridges. As urban myth states, if the relationship doesn’t last, you must return to the bridge and remove the padlock.

Inspired by Coco

Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel is one of my biggest inspirations. She is timeless, classic, and elegant. She changed women’s fashion in the early 20th century and she is one of the many feminists I admire. She also started at humble beginnings and created a legacy (which I also hope to do in my lifetime).

A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.

What better way than to have a “Chanel” inspired Bridal Shower?

  • Invitations in a black and white colour palette
  • Parisian pastries (french macaroons, croissants, cupcakes)
  • Gift bags (filled with Chanel make up, of course!; for your bridesmaids — some pearls)

For florals? No question — signature white camellia.

Eat, Sleep, Play: Weekend Getaway

Share
Source: Wedding Dresses

All that wedding planning can take a toll on you. Trust me, I know. It’s like a full time job for at least a year (more or less) on top of your full-time day job! And without the help of a wedding planner, reliable bridesmaids/maid-of-honour(s), or supportive parents and helpful fiance… it feels like you’re all alone and you just have to do everything yourself.

That’s definitely not the case!! Don’t ever fall into this situation because you might make friendships/relationships a bit more fragile if you’re constantly irritated. If you are, take a step back. Give yourself a break. The world (and your wedding) will survive if you take a weekend off for yourself. You and your fiance need to “get away” and re-discover why you’re getting married and why you want to spend the rest of your life with the other person.

My recommendation? Head off to a cottage, spa, countryside… basically, any place where there is no traffic, congestion, smog, noise… OUT OF THE CITY during non-holiday weekends.

One of my favourite places to go is Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood, Ontario (2 hours north of Toronto). I’m not a skiier, snowboarder, or snowmobiler for those winter months, but I enjoy the scenery, taking my camera(s) for a stroll and capturing people, places, and things. There’s so much to do in the little “village”, you can’t go wrong by choosing to escape here (for a few days anyway). Some places I like to go:

Hello, Sunshine!

Share

The weather has seriously been getting me down. Snow, no snow, rain, freezing temps, warm spring weather or a sudden blizzard. It just cannot make up it’s mind and I’m sure brides everywhere (in Canada) anyway, just need a little boost as well!

What perfect way to display eye candy other than gorgeous yellow hues and bling!
