All that wedding planning can take a toll on you. Trust me, I know. It’s like a full time job for at least a year (more or less) on top of your full-time day job! And without the help of a wedding planner, reliable bridesmaids/maid-of-honour(s), or supportive parents and helpful fiance… it feels like you’re all alone and you just have to do everything yourself.
That’s definitely not the case!! Don’t ever fall into this situation because you might make friendships/relationships a bit more fragile if you’re constantly irritated. If you are, take a step back. Give yourself a break. The world (and your wedding) will survive if you take a weekend off for yourself. You and your fiance need to “get away” and re-discover why you’re getting married and why you want to spend the rest of your life with the other person.
My recommendation? Head off to a cottage, spa, countryside… basically, any place where there is no traffic, congestion, smog, noise… OUT OF THE CITY during non-holiday weekends.
One of my favourite places to go is Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood, Ontario (2 hours north of Toronto). I’m not a skiier, snowboarder, or snowmobiler for those winter months, but I enjoy the scenery, taking my camera(s) for a stroll and capturing people, places, and things. There’s so much to do in the little “village”, you can’t go wrong by choosing to escape here (for a few days anyway). Some places I like to go:
