Oh, How Grand!

Share

Oh, what  a lovely evening with fellow WPIC members experiencing old Hollywood in the historic Eglinton Grand! A venue located in Toronto that used to be a theatre now can cater to any couple’s wishes for their wedding day! They can customize the old theatre marquee outside and include a red carpet, ropes, and the old ticket booth in any of the wedding packages available. I just love how they warmly welcomed us!

We got to tour the venue, which includes a ceremony room known as the “gathering room”. It is completely customizable and can be transformed to suit your theme or wedding style. It provides a convenient “one-stop” location for your guests to reduce travel and parking costs!

This gorgeous place has a cocktail area on the upper level with a fully stocked bar and lounge chairs and theatre style curtains that open up to reveal the reception area. In the reception area, there is another fully stocked bar and dance floor in the centre! We were served hors d’oeuvres of Alaskan crab cakes, pulled pork sliders, short plate-poutine and polenta rounds along with white and red wine as well as a Signature Drink: The Bloody Orange Sour.

We headed into the main reception area after our tour and was stunned by the marvelous centerpieces and decor around the room from Zoki Eclectic Floral Designs and Decor with Grandeur!

Before the night ended, we got to hear from the lovely Kelly Spinelli of Laura Kelly Wedding Design talk about her experience as a reality TV wedding planner for Rich Bride, Poor Bride!

It was an amazing evening and a big thank you to WPIC and Eglinton Grand for hosting this event!!

Something Blue

Have you picked out your something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue? Don’t forget the six-pence in your shoe! Ha, just kidding about that last one! Very hard to find a six-pence nowadays… Try a lucky penny!

I am in love with coloured dresses since I’m a non-traditionalist. I’m sure my mom would have a cow…but it’s just who I am. I like to be different in my own way and I believe each wedding is unique to each couple and should not be a cookie-cutter wedding.

Your something blue shouldn’t have to be complicated, don’t over think it. Let it be simple and fun and most definitely, be you! Try some of the options below!

The best, for last: make a statement with that something blue shoe and some red soles.

Manzanita trees are made to look like branches of a real tree and can be used for centerpieces, venue decor, or wishing trees. Adorned with crystals, baubles, and flowers — make it your own and add your own little touches! How about some photos of you and your hubby? Instead of having a traditional guestbook, how about your guests write you a special message and hang it on the tree?

The last novel in the worldwide best selling novel series by Stephenie Meyer will be in theatres in 16 days (17 really…unless you’re going to see the midnight screening!!!).
