Masquerade Wedding Theme

“Masquerade! Paper faces on parade!” – Phantom of the Opera

I went to New York City the first weekend of April this year to celebrate my anniversary. We went to see the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. WOW! What an experience. The talent, the costumes, the orchestra, the masquerade.

I have always been obsessed with Masquerade-themed events, whether it be a Masquerade ball, prom, birthday, or wedding — the allure of putting on a mask and being someone totally different.

Gossip Girl: The Handmaiden’s Tale

With a Masquerade theme, there are endless options for invitations, masks, centerpieces, wedding dresses, wedding cake….and more! Definitely have it as a formal affair, black tie optional. Make sure the event is classy and elegant – not Halloween. Have a flair for the dramatic – make everyone exchange masks at one point or another during the evening and try to guess who is who! Vote for the best mask and give a prize to the best couple.

Let’s Have a {Tea} Party!

Share
“I’m late! I’m late! For a very important date!”

My previous post has got me in the mood for all things Spring! If you’re stuck trying to come up with a theme for your wedding, why not grab some inspiration from your favourite movies (e.g. Disney movies – Cinderella, Beauty & the Beast, Snow White, etc.)?

Alice in Wonderland is a theme in itself from the mad hatter, to the Queen of Hearts, to the always late rabbit… You can have a wonderful tea party (for your wedding rehearsal, bridal shower, or even your wedding reception) with a topsy-turvy cake, cupcakes, macaroons, TEA (of course) and let your imagination wander to patterned linens, tea pot centerpieces, and different flavours of tea for your party favours! Have tons of fun playing with different ideas for your wedding theme! NOTHING is too outrageous – it’s your wedding day, have it your way!

Have an Egg-cellent Wedding!

Share

Spring is just around the corner… I can almost feel the warmth! Easter is just a little over 2 weeks away and with the new kid-friendly movie in theatres – HOP– it has me hopping with excitement! I went to see the movie last night and I absolutely fell in love with it! I can’t help myself when there are cute adorable little chicks.

So it got me thinking, how about an Easter Theme wedding? Colorful eggs, baskets, tulips and chocolate mini-eggs galore!! Using egg holders as your centerpieces! Planning to invite children to the reception? Have an Easter Egg Hunt!

What’s Your ‘Do?

Share

With so many things to do for  your wedding… you can’t forget your ‘do — hairdo — that is! Whether you want it classy, elegant, curly, straight, long, short, simple, or extravagant — remember your comfort level! Do you really want 100+ hairpins sticking into your skull for the whole evening (possibly giving you a headache by the end of the night??).

Make sure your hair dresser is someone you have used frequently and someone you trust! You don’t want a disaster on your wedding day if your hair has been cut too short, the wrong color has been dyed etc. etc.

HAIR TIPS:
1. Meet with your hair dresser for a trial-run. Bring a photo of your wedding dress for inspiration
2. Bring any hair accessories (tiara, veil, ribbon etc) to your trial-run. Inform your hair dresser if you will be removing your headpiece during the evening so it can be strategically placed for easy removal
3. Bring several photos from hair magazines that you like
4. Arrange to meet with your make-up artist the same day for a trial-run
